A BIG HIT!

Just yesterday we had over 2700 hits on our site! We had a huge promotion with free shipping over $30 and 20% off the entire store. It really was a Huge Hit. We received about 7 orders yesterday.

It's totally a rush! I am getting more and more customers, of whom I do not know :). Those are the best kind, although I love the support from my family and friends!

Facebook has been an awesome tool that has totally helped me promote everything I have. I am going to have to do a press release soon, any suggestions?

The House of PlumRed is growing everyday. Beyond the little hiccups, everything has fallen into place, and all I can do now is stick with it and keep going!

One stepping stone at a time...

QUOTE FOR THE DAY:
“When we are sure that we are on the right road there is no need to plan our journey too far ahead. No need to burden ourselves with doubts and fears as to the obstacles that may bar our progress. We cannot take more than one step at a time.”

The AFTER LAUNCH

The House of PlumRed finally opened on November 25. Even though we were unable to open when we hoped for, I know everything good comes in time! I am excited to say that HOPR has now been open for 14 days :).

HOPR went through some minor hiccups; including no response from the coder! But it finally all worked out.

It's funny how a month feels like a year. I think this has to be the most stressful and exciting time time of my life. I know I don't make millions now, but the satisfaction of my work was enough to keep me going :). Who knows...

We also got our very first order on November 25. So exciting! We are slowly growing, and since, we have received 10 orders. Not bad for a little online store huh? ;-)

Since then, we have anywhere from 400-1200 hits on our website DAILY. I hope to have those numbers. Any suggestions anyone out there in the World Wide Web who may be reading my blog? My goal is to get 30,000 hits per day.

Now, on to the Marketing plan...

So far we have affiliates and Facebook.

I did join the Fashion Industry Network, and it has been SO helpful!

Launch Party at the Geisha House

The House of PlumRed has officially LAUNCHED :). One more step closer to a success...the House of PlumRed Launched on November 20, 2009.

It was a great success, although I remember little of it as I ran around with the models with only 4 hours of sleep and having been up since 5:30am that morning.

From what I know, I had happy guests, a great start for the event with about 75 people in the crowd and wonderful photographer from the Orange County Register as well as a freelance photographer!

Check out the photos at:

According to the OC Register, "we have a hit on our hands!"

Once upon a time...

Once upon a time...

I found myself graduating from college thinking I knew exactly what I wanted to do. Only a few years later, and 2 jobs later, I learned one thing...I was not meant for the 9-5. I spent a lot of time with family (mostly my mother), finding other alternatives, and I never quite got it right. Little did I know that the House of PlumRed was right at the horizon of fate.

Finding myself at my second job after college as an Operations Manager at a telecommunications company in San Clemente, I had a live with a cute little white fluff dog and a dedicated boyfriend. In the midst of my routine, my best friend had left her job and had some "life changes." I always thought she would do great running a boutique. She had the resources and the capital. I brought up the idea to her and eventually it faded in the background.

One day, I decided to pick it up again and start on the Business Plan. A few excel sheets later and a quick pep talk with my mom, and I was ready to go for it after all. Just for the sake of the business plan, I began a company called House of PlumRed Inc. As you can tell...it kind of stuck ;).

I sat down and thought of every little thing I may need to start this. Fashion shoots, events, and clothing were the first things on my mind. I found a graphic designer and a photographer and the rest flowed from there.

2 weeks later I had my first fashion shoot in my parents' old house in San Clemente. We made the most of what we had, but I had all the essentials. The talents of my models (aka my cute friends), the graphic designer, photographer, stylist, make up artist, and hair stylist.

The next thing you new we were rocking it. :)

Check out www.facebook.com/houseofplumred for our fan page and pictures of our photoshoot.

November 1 was the date for our next fashion shoot. Another week of hustle and bustle.

More models. More Pictures. More Dress-Up. I look back now (2 weeks later) and almost can't believe how smoothly everything went.

Behind the scenes, I was dealing with inventory issues as well as, unfortunately, business relationship issues. I went in this business with family, which can be a heart wrenching experience. You have to love family, but maybe sometimes its better to keep your business and family separate. In the end, we worked something out and were all able to see how to really support each other.

The House of PlumRed began as a way to get out of my 9-5, but it really has unleashed a passion in me to really build what I have started. Stylish Clothes for Reasonable Prices is what the objective is for the website. In this economy, I know many people may have thought I was a little crazy for doing this in such a bad climate, but ya know what? It is a risk I needed to take.
